How to Make a Deathly Hallows
Hi there! Have you ever seen the fancy stamps and stationary in stores that are pretty but way too expensive? With a few simple materials, you can make dozens of stamps for less than $20. While this may seem expensive at first, think of the possibilities! Today I'm going to teach you how to make a Harry Potter Deathly Hallows stamp.
Preparing Your Stamp
For the deathly Hallows stamp, you will need linoleum, an X-acto knife, linoleum carving tools, a glue gun or superglue, and an unsharpened pencil or old glue stick. Paint is optional. First, cut a 1 by 1 inch square of linoleum. This will be your stamp. Then, draw a Deathly Hallows symbol on the linoleum. Your lines should be thick. Once you have it the way you like it, you can begin to carve.
Carving Your Stamp
Begin by sliding your tool along the outside edge of the symbol using a number 3 blade. If you cannot se the edges of your tool, you are carving too deep. Continue carving outward until the symbol is sticking up. Then move down to a 1 or 2 blade to carve the inside of the Deathly Hallows. Carve out the inside of the circle by beginning with a circular carve around the edge and then up and down on the inside. Use this same method on the rest of the stamp. Once you’ve finished, you can glue your pencil or glue stick to the back of the stamp. If you’d like, you can paint the glue stick. Now you have a Deathly Hallows stamp!
Printing Your Stamp
There are two ways to print your stamp. One is to use a stamping pad, and the other is to use block printing ink. Personally I prefer the first method because it’s much less messy, but both ways work. If you use the ink pad, simply press the stamp into the ink and push it onto your paper. For the block printing method, roll out a patch of ink onto plastic or plexiglass. Make sure you cover your whole roller. Then roll it onto your stamp and press it onto the paper. Now you’re done!
